29th JANUARY - NO GIGS UNTIL AUGUST

With Andys pending operation looming followed by at least a couple of months of bed rest, it is not possible for us to plan any gigs for the near future. After a band meeting it has been decided that the band will resume playing from August. This should give Andy enough time to recover properly and get back in to the swing of things with rehearsals. Apologies to those that we have already had to refuse a show for.

No doubt when we come back we will be no better than before....

31st DECEMBER - KENILWORTH SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB

What a really nice way to finish off the year at this venue, although playing for nearly 4 hours on and off was really tiring. By the time we had finished, broken down the gear packed away and got home it was past 3.30am. It was a pleasure to play at this venue and the people of Kenilworth seemed to warm to us and enjoy the night. Afterwards, we had some very nice comments said to us.

Time now for a bit of a break, Andy is waiting any day to be admitted to hospital for some surgery while Steve and Derek have a rest. We will be back very soon for some more wacky madness, awful singing and out of tune playing at a venue near you...!

Happy New Year Everone

12th DECEMBER - KNOWLE & DORRIDGE TENNIS CLUB XMAS PARTY

Outside of raising money for charity, this show for us had probably given us the best feeling of any other show we had done. Nothing to do with us, but it was all to do with the audience, all in fancy dress, all were up for it from song No 1 to the end. It just goes to show that you don't get good bands, you get good audiences.

All of our year disapointments were lost here and we had a most fantastic time and a great way to finish the year on a high. Please try to support us for our New Years Eve show in Kenilworth.

Next year we will take a little time out as Andy has to have more surgery so it only remains for us to wish everyone who is associated with us a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we'll see you again real soon.

11th DECEMBER - THE BOOT INN

This was our first visit to the Boot, our old friend Pete had invited us to do a show for him and we were only too happy to oblige. He had a stage made and quite a few had turned out to see the show. We made him and his friend Alan up and he had a great T-Shirt printed for the night. Hopefully, we gave him a good show, it looked like most of the people enjoyed themselves, Pete seemed happy, and was very drunk. We would like to thank everyone who turned up and to Pete for having us and we hope to see them all again in the New Year.

05th DECEMBER - GIG CANCELLATION

We are absolutely gutted to have to tell you that The Hobs Meadow have called us to cancel our Christmas show. We know that many people were planning to come to this show as their Christmas Party, we can only apologize but it is totally out of our control. We are desperately looking for another venue but everywhere already has something on. We would still like to do this show so if anyone knows of a suitable venue at short notice, please contact us.

14th NOVEMBER - LANGLEY HALL SOCIAL CLUB

This was our first appearance at this venue so we were a bit nervous at first, especially after Andy found out when he was talking to one of the committee members how they previously had a band that were so bad that they made them pack up and sent them home.....oooh eeer oh dear... they obviously had not heard us before but we soldiered on.

During the first set, we tried to gauge how well we were going down and looking through the audience, peoples feet were tapping, some people were clapping and singing which gave us a good sign that it only needed the first person to get up and start the dancing. At the interval, the committee assured us and that they were not going to chuck us off stage and sure enough, early in the second set, the dancers got up and everyone followed. It turned out to be a very good night as quite a few Glammie fans had turned out to support us which boosted the numbers up and gave a really good atmosphere. We would like to say a big thank you to the committee who said that they want us back again next year and to the audience for once again making us look far better than we really are.

17th OCTOBER - JILL'S 50th BIRTHDAY PARTY

This show was a last minute thing that we agreed to do for Jill's 50th birthday. She only wanted us to play for an hour at the end of her party which we obliged. Not too much to say about this show really, not that it was bad, far from it but we were not the highlight of the night as before we went on, Jill had arranged lots of party games almost as if it were a kids party. Much to our disappointment we didn't take part in the games. All in all, a good night for everyone.....only one draw back ......stairs.... puffing and panting carrying the gear up and down stairs really shows our age and the three of us not being in the best of health begs the question of do we need a road crew....? YES

10th OCTOBER - THE HOBS MEADOW

Another great night at the Hobs Meadow, a good turnout from the audience. This show gave us another chance to get young Victoria up on stage to sing with us again which she did fantastically and put our own drones to shame. We look forward to the Christmas show in December where ' Frosty' the snowman will be making a very special appearance, not forgetting Santa and this year we may dress Steve as the Angel Gabriel, that will be good, we will see you there...!

26th SEPTEMBER - MARK'S 50th BIRTHDAY

It was a great pleasure to do this show for Mark's 50th birthday, for all those that don't know, Mark is a tattoo artist and a couple of years ago he lost his business during the floods in Evesham. We did a benefit show for him and raised a bit of cash to help him back on his feet. We met Mark while we were playing for his bike club, the Barkin Mad M.C.C. and have been friends with him and the club since. Steve the drummer has had pretty much his body covered in tattoos by Mark since.

Anyway, the show seemed to go down OK but no-one was really interested in us as it was Marks night. People said that we did good but for us, if we don't get the audience participation we are not sure if we go down well. The main thing though was that Mark enjoyed what we did for him but he was well and truly bladdered...! We enjoyed it anyway..!

15th AUGUST - MICK'S 50th BIRTHDAY

Finally, after recent disappointing cancellations and Derek being on his last legs some good news to talk about. We had an absolute great time being the entertainment for Mick's 50th birthday party. We tried a few new things that we have been working on in the studio, such as playing a couple of songs in the 'clean' sound rather than distortion and also some backing vocals work which seem to be very well received ..... either that or people were just to pissed to notice..! Anyway, enough about us, it was Mick's night, he was justly made a big fuss of by everyone, and it was well deserved as he is a great bloke. A special thanks from us to both Mick and Alison, we hope that they enjoyed our show and thanks for the nice comments several people made to us after the show.

11th AUGUST - TARDEBIGGE SHOW CANCELLED

This year we are being very unlucky with gig cancellations, we have heard tonight that the Charity Fund Raising Show that was planned for 29th August at the Tardebigge in Redditch has unfortunately been cancelled. This is due to a sudden change in management at the pub and the Charity event had been arranged by the previous owners. We are particularly gutted about this as Cancer Research is something close to our hearts. Although this is something out of our control, we would like to apologise to anyone who was planning to attend.

1st AUGUST - DEREK

Just a quick update on Derek's condition for those who are interested, sadly, he is much better, rehearsing again and can't wait for the next gig. Derek would like to have thanked everyone who sent him well wishes but no-one did .... except his mother.... well, she didn't either ..... in fact no one missed him. Many thanks to Jane for offering her son Steve to replace him on a temporary basis. We are glad Derek is good again.

14th JULY - GIG CANCELLATION

It is with great regret that the show planned for 18th July at the Hobs Meadow has had to be cancelled. This is due to Derek's 'Clicky' Hip finally packing up and now he is struggling to walk. ( That will teach him for running after the kids a couple of shows back...! )
On a more serious note, he has suffered for a long time Chronic Arthritis in his hip joint, and now this is been coupled with trapped nerves and he is in some pain. We would like to apologise to everyone who was planning to attend the show, and to Paul the Landlord who we had to let down at very short notice. Hopefully, Derek will be back prancing around again very soon.
With all of our ailments between us people are running a sweep on which of us will croak it first.....! We are thinking of changing our name to the 'Old Codgers'....!

04th JULY - BISHOPS ITCHINGTON CARNIVAL

This show was a welcome return for us to a little village with a big heart.  We have played at Bishops a few times before, at the Carnival a couple of years back and when we raised some big money for one of the residents.
This time we had come back to headline the Carnival, the weather held off and the audience filled up the area armed with much beer and enthusiasm.  Previous to us were the warm up band Psycho something who made a big effort with their sound and how they looked and belted out some great sounds. Unfortunately, a mixture of Heavy Rock/Thrash and Glam didn't quite go down so well with the Carnival type audience so they were not received as well as they deserved.  We on the other hand thought they were great and could see them in the future, headlining at Bike Rallies.
Any how, we went on and after a few sound checking issues settled down to the show.  Derek, after the escapade of the last show declined from running after children and surprisingly did not fall over this time….!
The lovely people of Bishops Itchington gave us a great reception again and generally seemed to enjoy themselves.  A big thank you to the organisers for inviting us back, once again, and as always, we enjoyed ourselves.

29th JUNE - PRIORSFIELD SCHOOL

This was another Fundraising event, we had helped raise money for Priorsfield school before so we knew that the audience would be up for it.  This time we were outside in a small Marquee, headlining after a day of events, stalls and other entertainment so we hoped and prayed that the weather would hold off.

First on was Chelsey Walker, a fantastic Solo Artist and a great friend of the band, as per usual she went down a storm. Next up was us.
We started the show very professionally, to a rather large field full with plenty of audience who had gathered to watch, making sure our sound was as good as can be, when Derek decided that it would be fun to go out in the audience and chase some children around.  So, mid 20th Century Boy, Derek is running around the field chasing the kids trying to play his Bass when….yes you have guessed it, flat on his face much to the amusement of the audience who found it very funny.  Not as funny as Andy and Steve found it, who couldn't play or sing due to being doubled over in uncontrollable laughter.
Amazingly we got away with it, how we don't know, but Derek got up, carried on playing as if nothing had happened, walked over to Andy and said '' It's a bit slippery out there'.  We don't make this stuff up, you know.
Anyway, the show progressed and after a short break where the Tug-Of-War competition took place we played out the night to a fantastic audience who were dancing and having a good time.
Once again we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, a big thank you to the organisers and the people of Wentworth for once again digging deep into their pockets to raise money for a great cause. Latest figures show that over £5000 was raised that day ...fantastic..!

7th JUNE - ROUTE 44 - INN ON THE GREEN

This show was a Fund Raising Event for the Macular Disease organised by our friends Steve and Maz Barber.  It was an all day event which included a Pig Roast, an Open Mic Session and several bands.  We did not arrive until the early evening but had the pleasure of being entertained by a couple of very talented bands, first up on the evening slot was Wild Messiah, a Heavy Rock/Thrash metal band who played some great stuff.
After the raffle, next up were the Bo Dudley's, a fantastic and talented Blues band who have been on the circuit for many years.  These guys had the dance floor packed with their catchy numbers, gave a great show and were a pleasure to watch.
We went on as the headlining band but any of the bands were more than capable of fronting the event.  Being a Sunday night, we thought that many of the audience would have left, especially after a long day and having work the next day….. but no, most stayed and danced on to our rubbish until the end.  The event was considered a great success and well over £1000 was raised on the day.
Steve and Maz should take a big pat on the back for organising this event, having done this type of thing before, we know how much hard work goes in to trying to bring something as big as this together so well done.  A big thank you to Steve and Maz for having us play for them, it was our pleasure, hopefully some images of the night will be soon be available for us to upload.

29th APRIL KENILWORTH DATE CANCELLATION

Due to Andy's emergency surgery, it is with great regret that we have to called our show at the Kenilworth Festival on Sat 9th May, we apologise for any inconvenience caused by Andy's selfish actions...!

27th APRIL - ANDY'S APPENDIX SAYS BYE BYE

On the night, well in fact all through the night of the 26th April, Andy found himself with his head down the loo being violently ill thinking all sorts of bad things had come back. One visit to the Doctors Surgery later, he was told go to hospital, do not pass GO and not to collect £200, then was promptly admitted with suspected Appendicitis. On the Tuesday evening, after various CT scans which showed that his worse nightmare had not come back, he had his Appendix whipped out, just like that. Then on the Wed, he was booted out because the hospital needed the bed, just like that and that was that. Unfortunately, the poor NHS management are no reflection on the exemplary skills and kindness shown to Andy by the Nurses, Doctors and Surgeon. A big thank you to everyone who looked after him. He is now very sore and one Appendix missing..!

25th - APRIL - THE HOBS MEADOW

We approached this show with a bit of anticipation really, we had heard that the venue was up for sale and it hadn't been very busy in recent weeks. Andy had popped in the week before to see how it was doing and found a poor young girl singing her heart out to about 15 people, so, so soul destroying. So we wasn't expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised of the turn out we had. There must have been 150+ which we thought in the present climate was not bad going. The show seemed to go to plan and it is a really nice feeling when just about everyone in the room is clapping to the beat, singing along and just taking part. Paul the Landlord seemed very happy with our efforts but was more impressed with the rumour he had heard of the rival pub up the road had only 20 people in all night. Thanks to all who came to the show, our family, friends and regulars and those who just like to have a good night, we will see you all again soon.

17th APRIL - GOSSIP

Just a couple of bits of gossip for anyone who is interested, firstly, we have been informed that the venue for the charity function on 7th June has been changed from the Chestnuts to The Inn on the Green (Route 44). So if you are planning to come along we will see you then.

Secondly, the band have agreed to do a short set for Kenilworth Carnival on 9th May, between 12 - 1, so if you have nothing to do that day, come and join in the fun.

11th APRIL - NATIONAL CHOPPER CLUB - 35th ANNIVERSARY RALLY

We were asked if we could be the warm up band for this event and after remembering how the rally that we did for NABD a couple of years back went down, we eagerly accepted. To be honest, we were not expecting much, it's not normally fun being the first or support band at such a big event but we were very pleasantly supervised by the reception given to us by this club. We went on at 8.00 pm and by 9.00 pm most of the people in the huge marquee were dancing away to our rubbish. We were told afterwards that we were the first and only support band to get the audience up dancing which we took as a huge compliment and decided that we were not that bad after all.

We would like to say thank you to Tim and Kirsty for putting us in the frame for this show, all the Sound Engineers and Road Crew that made us look and sound far better than we actually are. Lastly a very big thank you to all the members of the N.C.C. (Staffordshire Branch) for being up for it...!

28th MARCH - LISA'S 40th BIRTHDAY PARTY

What a great turn out for Lisa's Party, the majority of people turned up in fancy dress which gave the night a real fun atmosphere.  This was our first gig of the year so we were a bit nervous but there was plenty of dancing going on and apart from a few mistakes (which we thought were incredibly funny), we seemed to go down fairly well.  At the start of the second set we gave young Liam a go on guitar which he seemed to enjoy, and much to the surprise of his mum Lisa who blubbered like a baby……'that’s my boy'….wahhhh!
Anyway, all in all a good night for Lisa, a good night for us and we even got offered to do a gig in Wales, well we've never played in Wales so we thought 'why not' and that was that.  We will wait for some confirmation and maybe the sound of the Glammie Dodgers, as bad as we are, will be whistling through the Welsh Valley's…Oh dear..!

Catch you all soon

08th MARCH - SITE UPDATE

Hi all, once again our busy personal lives have gotten in the way of keeping this site updated, we apologize to the people who view it regular. We have a bit of news for you, we have secured some new dates for our Gig List and are in the process of sorting out others, unfortunately most venues are pleading poverty and some are not even having bands anymore so we have to wait and see what comes up. We are not worried, the band for us is a hobby so when we don't have a show to do we enjoy the rest but we know things will pick up again soon.

Take Care all, catch you soon.

14th JANUARY - WEBSITE UPDATE

Today we have uploaded the latest version of our web site, have a look around, there are a few new things on it. Let us know what you think.

10th JANUARY - GOSSIP

It is planned that we will continue to raise money for Cancer Research UK in 2009 in the form of raffling off a bottle of Whiskey or something like that at every show we do (excluding any other fund raising events). We will have the donation bucket at the shows should anyone wish to donate but will try not force the issue like we did before.

We plan to use the £10 donation given to us by Lorraine in December to open a Fund Raising Bank Account that we will use to store all the money in until such time we make a donation. Should the band for any reason finish, the Account will be closed and all monies given to Cancer Research UK.

7th JANUARY - NEWS

Today Andy went to hospital for his planned skin graft operation and the good news is that he didn't have to have it..! Hooray we here you say, but no......, the surgeons cut him open again and managed to close up the wound properly.

For anyone that is interested, he is doing OK, he now has 15 stitches across his stomach and will be out of action for a few weeks. That will give him enough time to update this web site and start sorting out some gigs for 2009.
